5/1/2023 0 Comments Folder to folder backupYou don't have to restore items if you don't want to. When the day comes that you need to restore 1 file, or 10 files, or your entire computer, that's the time you can unselect things from the RESTORE SIDE. This MIGHT add a tiny little bit of extra time to your very first upload, but after that it won't harm you at all because Backblaze does incremental backups after that point - only pushing things that change or are added to your computer. It's continuous, automatic, zero configuration backup. Backblaze isn't a file transfer program in that sense. Oh, this brings up one other thing: Backblaze operates on the ORIGINAL copy of the data, you shouldn't ever prepare a folder of things that you want to backup and "point" Backblaze at that folder. If you add a folder to your computer, Backblaze will just quietly notice and back it up. It is intended to run Continuously, in the background, for years, and just keep you safe. The whole philosophy of Backblaze Personal Backup is we free you from ever configuring anything ever again. I'm curious why you felt you should change anything away from the defaults? Why add even a single exclusion? You can't save any money by excluding folders, Backblaze Personal Backup is a fixed cost no matter what. I had to make a ton of rules for 'excluded' folders. Migrating from google backup and sync now found one bug but was able to get around it. i haven't tried making an alias/shortcut, maybe that's an option. It'd be convenient to backup certain folders that i wasn't in the past, but i'm not creating 50 rules to do that. most of us are backing up particular folders, rather than entire drives. if you could make something like 'advanced filtering' with a disclaimer that it's for advanced users and might not back everything up, it would be extremely helpful.įor those of us coming from GBS, it's not really the same. I saw elsewhere that you're trying to make this user friendly - that's fine. fortunately, even though the folder select dialog defaults to the users folder, i was able to key in c:\whatever on my own, so that helped. i had to make a ton of rules for 'excluded' folders. What is really a struggle is the fact that BB wants to back up nearly everything. I'm on a trial now, likely subscribing since things seem ok. Hi, im migrating from google backup and sync now that they've changed everything up.
